Srinagar, Jun 06 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson and BJP leader Darakhshan Andrabi on Saturday criticised the National Conference's plan to hold a protest in Delhi for restoration of statehood, saying demonstrations would not resolve the issues faced by the people.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a Deen Dayal Upadhyaya workers' training programme in Bandipora, Andrabi, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said the Omar Abdullah-led government should focus on governance and addressing public grievances instead of organising protests.
"Nothing has happened through protests, nor will anything happen through protests. The government must understand the pain and problems of the people and work sincerely to resolve them," she said.
Referring to the NC's proposed march in the national capital, Andrabi said if the government was serious about serving the people, it should concentrate on fulfilling its responsibilities and addressing issues affecting the public.
"The people are facing numerous problems and expect solutions. The government should focus on development, employment, infrastructure and public welfare instead of political drama," she said.
Andrabi alleged that the present government was failing to address key public concerns and was diverting attention from pressing issues affecting ordinary citizens.
She said governance should be centred on accountability and service delivery, and the administration must respond effectively to the aspirations and concerns of the people.
